HP EliteBook 850 G1
The 850 G1 looks great when open in front of you, but if you close the system and look at it from the side, it has a fairly slim profile. HP eliminated the built-in DVD drive from previous models and manufactured the magnesium and aluminum chassis, so the system is just over 0.8 inches thick. At 4.31 pounds, it’s probably lighter than a few years ago’s laptop models.
The HP EliteBook 850’s backlit, spill-resistant keyboard provided a smooth overall typing experience. The bridge was solid when we hit the keys, and we didn’t notice any flex when pressing the keyboard. The key movement was deep enough for comfortable typing and productivity, but the tactile feedback could have been sharper. We scored 53 words per minute with a 3% error rate during the Ten Thumbs typing test, which is lower than our speed of 63 WPM with an error rate of zero on our standard desktop keyboard.
Touchpad and Pointing Stick
The pointing stick of the Elitebook 850 has a rubbery and comfortable handle which facilitates scrolling without reaching the touchpad.
